Nothing to Lose

Jimi opened the door to the garage. "What are we waiting for then?" He got in the car. "I'm going to need you to sit with Keira for a bit okay?"

Keira held onto both kids and got into the car. She gave Jimi the directions and within five minutes they were there. She walked in and noticed Dave was the host as usual. "Hey Davey."
"Hey Keir, table for two?" He asked not even looking up.
"No, four." She said holding JJ.
Dave looked up and noticed Jimi and JJ. "Oh, well alright. Let's get you a table for four." he said and lead them to a seat. "The usual for you two?" he asked.
Keira nodded. "Sounds good. Give these two a few minutes to look over the menu." Keira said and smiled.
Dave nodded and smiled back. "Alright, I'll be right back with your drinks then Keir."

"Well someone comes here pretty often." Jimi chuckled as he scanned over the menu. "I'll just have whatever you're having. I don't think anything else on the menu would really sit well." He glanced at JJ. "What about you buddy?"

JJ looked at Keira. "I want what Kenya wants."
Keira nodded. "Alright."

"Wow, that was easy. I'm surprised." Jimi laughed. "I was thinking that we might have been here for a while. JJ's pretty indecisive."

Keira laughed. "Most kids just want to please their friends. So i'm not surprised."

"You know since I met you. I just can't shake this odd feeling, that I know you. Like I've seen you somewhere." Jimi trailed off and studied Keira.

Keira looked at Jimi. "What year were you born? I might actually have known you before."

"If remember correctly, about 1914. Poland area." Jimi raised an eyebrow. "Any ideas?"

"1915, around here. If you were in the army then I deffinatly met you. My brother was in it and I was a nurse. We were vampires already so it worked out for us." She smiled and thought back. "I do remember having a patient look like you, but after they let him go back he never had to come back to the hospital."

Jimi's jaw dropped. "Of course! That's where I remember you from. When I was turned, I vaguely remember a nurse that took care of me."

Keira nodded. "That'd be me. You were one of the people my brother must have accidentally turned."

"What a small world we live in." Jimi ran a hand over his neck. "I literally got to meet my maker. Weiiiird."

Keira laughed. "Yeah....well he really beat himself up over it but then he remembered you were dieing so he didn't mind after awhile."

"I guess it didn't turn out so bad." Jimi smiled. "I mean, you did save me in a way. Those first nights were the worst."

Keira nodded. "No problem, it was my job. Besides, there was something about you that made me want to help you so much more than the others." She said without realizing it then after she did she covered her face. "Sorry, sorry I shouldn't have said that."

Without thinking Jimi took her hand lightly. "I'm glad you did. I would have never had a kid or known any of this."

Keira looked at her and Jimi's entwined hands then back at him. She had no clue what to say. She in a way felt connected to Jimi but she didn't want to tell him this since his wife had died only a month ago.

Dave returned with the drinks and Jimi quickly let go of Keira's hand. He felt a love for Keira that he had once felt for his wife. It pained him, he felt like he was betraying her. "I'm sorry."

Keira nodded and took a sip of her blood. "Thanks Dave. They want the same things we're having." She said and watched Kenya and JJ play with crayons and draw on some paper. She smiled and watched them.

"What are you two drawing there?" Jimi asked as he took a drink. He watched as the two of them scribbled fiercely across the paper.

Keira looked over at Kenya's drawing and smiled.
"I'm drawing mommy, daddy, and my baby brother that mommy's going to have." Kenya said and showed the rest of the table.
JJ showed his picture. "It's me, daddy, and Keira."

Jimi smiled and ruffled JJ's hair. "Nice picture kid. Looks like we've got an artist on our hands."

Keira laughed and smiled at JJ. "It's very lovely JJ, your's too Kenya."
